About Me
For the past 15 years I’ve been teaching business students at various colleges and universities. As a professor and instructor of Business Management, I’ve taught just about every management course there is to teach, blending my 25 years of prior management experience into an assortment of textbooks.
Early on in my teaching career, I was struck by how similar these texts were to each other, despite the varied authors. The regurgitation of basically the same material as new editions appeared every couple of years failed to produce much new and exciting reading. I quickly came to the conclusion that the design of these books often did not adequately prepare students for their future roles as managers. And so often times during my classes I would ask students to put the text away as I related my own knowledge and experience, jokingly telling them that my version of the subject matter would soon be incorporated into my own management book.
And so it simply struck me one day to dispense with the criticism and write my own book - one that had application in the classroom, but also possibly being of interest to many others. Moreover, my intent was to publish a book that was very different in many respects to others already out there. In reviewing my finished manuscript after several months of intense effort, I concluded that I succeeded in this goal.
Apart from my writing and during periods when I was not teaching, I have used the time available to me to explore and photograph many regions of the southwestern United States. Over the years, my interest in ancient native cultures and a diversity of natural habitats has led me to some of the most beautiful and interesting places on earth, many very near where I live in northern Arizona. I am extremely grateful for my ability to take advantage of these opportunities, eliciting a wonderful awareness of the intense beauty our natural world holds for all of us to experience.
